Railway components of rail vehicle construction

Doors and hatches

Part 3 of EN 45545 establishes the requirements on the fire resistance and test procedures for fire protection closures in rail vehicles to verify the fulfilment of the requirements in respect of integrity, thermal insulation or radiation respectively. The purpose of the measures and requirements which are established in Part 3 of EN 45545 is to protect passengers and personnel in the event of a fire developing in the vehicle.

Penetrations

With the fire tests on cable and pipe penetrations through fire protection closures (in accordance with DIN EN 45545-3) the verification is provided that the penetrations do not weaken the required fire protection characteristics of the fire protection closures.
